african lion safari or toronto zoo?

I am 6 months pregnant and want to take my daughter either to the toronto zoo or african lion safari this weekend. (it will probably be Holiday Monday judging the weather forcast). I can’t do much walking and was wondering, is it better to take my 20 month daughter to the zoo or African Lion Safari. Which will she see more animals from the bus at African Lion Safari or the zoo? Also any one know if either will be packed on a holiday Monday?
Definitely the African Lion Safari if you don’t want to walk. The zoo is great but it is a LOT of walking and a fair bit of it is hilly. You can take your car through the ALS and it is a great way to see the animals up close. This is a great time of year to go because it is not too hot yet.If you go when it is really hot the animals are hiding in the shade.I have been at least 7 times with my kids and they still love it (they are 16 & 18).It may not be hot enough this weekend but they have a great little splash pad play area for the younger kids at ALS too.Take her bathing suit if it will be nice. You will see an amazing amount of animals there too.Deer, monkeys, giraffes, bears, bison, water buffaloes, birds, lions, ostriches, rhinos, baboons, zebras, and a lot more. They have a little train ride and a boat ride that is included in the price of admission. At some point in the day they take the elephants down to the water for a swim. They walk with their handlers along the roadway holding the tails of the one in front with their trunks. It is cute.Going through with you car is great because the animals get pretty close sometimes. The monkeys climb on the visitors cars. Our favorite part.have fun.
Both will be packed but if you can’t walk much than you should go to African Lion Safari since the zoomobile at the zoo doesn’t show you much and isn’t a long ride. The toronto zoo is really somewhere where you need to walk around to see the animals.

While nobody can predict the future, I live near the Toronto Zoo and the only times the traffic is bumper to bumper between the 401 and the zoo entrance, a stretch of about 2 K, is on long weekends. It is often "packed" on long weekends and there is a lot of walking, even from the $20 parking lot. (Up from 10 since last year.) Cut down on the walking by taking the TTC. (A family pass is cheaper than the parking and the bus gets you closer to the entrance! see the ttc website for more info – they don’t publicize the pass which is only available at subway stations.)
There is a LOT of walking involved going to the Toronto Zoo. The closest parking lot fills up very fast. If you are going to go to the zoo, you have to go very early on a weekend to get these spots.
I can’t comment on African Lion Safari, but I hope the info above is helpful. If I were you I’d wait until both kids are a bit older and go for a fun farm that may also have berry picking in the meantime.
The only one I can think of is Pingles, just north east of Oshawa, but I’m sure there are many just a search away. Have fun.
